Become a contribs.org volunteer. One possible aspect of volunteering may be to champion an individual SME package. In other words you may volunteer to 'watch' a defined package source, say 'samba'. Your volunteer efforts may include reporting known bugs. Your volunteer efforts may include becoming the SME samba 'guru'. You may elect to build samba source into rpms for SME.
