As far as I know mknbi doesn't work for kernels newer than 2.6.21, or so. This probably applies for mkelf-linux too. Use wraplinux for newer kernels. Your etherboot version also looks very old. Etherboot isn't actively supported anymore, so if you can use gPXE with your board, please do it. gPXE is able to load linux kernels directly, so there's no need for mkelf-linux or wraplinux.
