if i remember right, as windows has copied it files, uncompressed them 
started to reboot into stage-2-windows-install, i powered off the machine, 
add the lan nic back and anything went well... if i remember right ;)

what is your boot order in the bios? just a though, but if it is:

   e1000 (san)
   e1000 (lan)
   cdrom
   hd
   usb

you should change it to

  e1000 (san)
  cdrom
  hd
  usb
  e1000 (lan)

i dunno if this a gpxe or windows issue...
