IrDA / IrComm analysis, what Hardware do I need, what WinPcap?

To use Ethereal for Infrared (IrDA) / IrComm debugging & man-in-the-middle sniffing, what hardware and what WinPcap do you suggest?

I want to debug communication between a non-PC device and a mobile phone, so  I guess my own IrDA stack of the sniffing Laptop has nothing to do, right?
