I've looked at that. The protocol is binary and horrible. If anyone else 
supports it, I'd love to take a look at the code and see if I can use it, but 
until then I'm considering it a bit of a blue-sky project.

What do you mean by "configuration" here?

I've played with that a bit. I already have basic presence and one-on-one 
conversation support there. The other things I'm looking at pretty heavily 
are WAP support and J2ME (eb-lite on your mobile phone - would that rock or 
what?).

Yep. There are facilities for dedicated "user interfaces" such as this.

Of course! That's why it uses TCP :)
The cookie you want are the 8 characters the core spits out when it first 
starts. Also encoded in the .everybuddy/authcookie file (in binary - the 
first two bytes (unsigned) are the port; the next 8 are the cookie).

Eeep! Which version are you using? Can you get a reliable way of reproducing 
it? I thought I had this one nailed in alpha-4...
