Hello again, and welcome to the first release of the new year. I'd like
to say a particular thank-you to the development team, which has really
swollen in recent months. A big hello (in no particular order) to Craig
West, our new Yahoo maintainer (also working on a Java user interface),
Cory McWilliams, who has been doing sterling work on IRC and will be
introducing us all to the delights of Jabber (probably in alpha-12, but
the adventurous should check the snapshots), and last but DEFINITELY
not least, Karine Proot, whose embryonic text-mode interface, ebnc, you
will find salted away in your tarball.

We have a nice bag of goodies for you all, featuring:

-	IRC which now really works with large contact lists (among other
things)
-	An updated and generally more stable Yahoo plugin, including the
latest libyahoo2
-	Bugfixes, including a few MSN tweaks, AIM Away state handling,
persistence of Ignore settings

Before I'd go on, I'd like to deliver an important warning to anyone
upgrading from alpha-10:

BETWEEN ALPHA-10 AND ALPHA-11, A VERSION INCOMPATIBILITY WAS
INTRODUCED. IF YOU TRY TO USE THE EBQT FROM ALPHA-10 WITH AN ALPHA-11
CORE, IT WILL _DROP_MESSAGES_. YOU *MUST* UPGRADE YOUR EBQT!

Things to look forward to in alpha-12:

-	Jabber!
-	Yahoo groupchats
-	Windows versions of both the core and ebqt

One more thing - this announcement is getting long, I know, but I'd
like to plug it while I have your attention - if you want to try any
of the hosted services, such as the web interface, RoadBuddy, and so
on, and don't have a core you can test with, you might be interested
in a hosted core. The idea is that we would run an eb-lite core for
you, on a co-located server, allowing you to use it from anywhere in
the world. Throw us a line on the mailing list if you're interested.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, just about wraps it up. Head on over to
the download page and get your freeeessh tarballs, but please do
remember to upgrade ebqt as well!
