You know, all the problems you are having is strange, because I have  
absolutely no problems building Fire using Xcode.  I would suggest the  
following:
in fire.pbproj delete the project* file.
Do a "cvs update fire.pbproj"
Then, open the project in Xcode (it will ask you to update)
build

I have been making extensive use of the fix and continue, and have no  
problems whatsoever.
