Your problem could be related to the following: 1) Sourceforge uses different servers to handle the anonymous CVS access. They are frequently overburdened, and give authentication, connection errors. Also, they use a backup copy of the CVS database, giving you a view that is at least 24 hours old. 2) Sourceforge is in the process of upgrading their CVS servers. Some projects have been moved to the newer faster hardware, and some haven't. It is possible that GAIM is on the new servers, and thus is better behaving.
