Ok, it seems that with the exception of Alan, the consensus is to leave them in the toolbar. So, since I already wired it up that way, it will just stay. (Aren't you glad I asked?). But, I do want to add one single button on the right side of the status area. This button will be 14 pixels high, and 32 wide. It will use some of the status text area, but that is it. I don't want to say quite yet what it does, because the inspiration of its full implications just hit me about 20 minutes ago (amazing how well you mind works after an exam. Now if only it work that way during the exam ;) ) and I want to mull over it a bit longer. I will only say that it one of the best ideas I have had for Fire, and I am sure most of you will find it terribly useful. Alan, we will definitely need to find a good way to make a command key equivalent to this (and what to call the thing). Programming Note: If ANYONE knows how to draw NSView elements inside an NSCell, please email me. I am going to have to figure this out soon to do what I want, and my usual google searching didn't yield very much. Basically, I want to be able to lay out a few view items inside an NSCell. I was thinking of subclassing NSCell, then passing the frame from drawInteriorWithFrame to an offscreen NSView, drawn in IB, to do the job, but I have no idea if this will work. Anyone know? Otherwise I am going to have to find another way to do this. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Graham Booker Texas A&M University [email protected] Graduate Student in ELEN ------------------------------------------------------------------ On Oct 22, 2003, at 1:43 PM, Graham Booker wrote: > In my excursion into modifying the chat windows, it occurred to me > that I may want to change some of the UI as well.
