Thank you.  Finally someone posted enough information to actually  
track this down.  As I have stated in the commit messages that fix this:

Guess we can't rely on Apple to keep functions working the way  
documentaion specifies:
"If the speech channel specified is producing speech, then the  
DisposeSpeechChannel function immediately stops speech before  
disposing of the channel."
Well, stoping the speech before disposing stops the crashes, so I  
guess the above is a lie.

Try this version, and see if it is any better:
