The problem is that the accounts for Fire are stored in 
Library/Application Support/Fire.  Most of the info is stored there.

I am afraid that your backup of the prefs didn't save what you really 
wanted.  Re-enter the accounts, and some of the services will be able 
to fetch the buddy list from the server.
