First of all, tell us something about your computer.

   * What kind of processor does it have? (G5/1.2GHz, G3/400MHz, etc)
   * How much RAM do you have? (128MB, 768MB, etc)
   * What version of OS X are you running?

Next, please follow these steps to help us figure out what else is
contributing to the problem.

1. Open Terminal
2. Type the following command, but do not hit Return:
   sample Fire 5
3. Do something in Fire which causes a beach ball
4. Immediately switch back to the Terminal window and press Return
5. Make sure Fire is still unresponsive when the sample finishes 5
seconds later. Otherwise, misleading data may be included in the
   sample.

This command will watch the Fire process for 5 seconds and keep track of
everything that happens. If Fire is stuck in a loop somewhere or is just
taking a long time to do something, this should give us some idea of
where to look.

When it's done, the sample will be in /tmp, which you can get to by
typing this in the Terminal window:

   % cd /tmp
   % open .

Send me the file called Fire_###.sample.txt that's in that directory.
Don't send it to the list; everyone doesn't need a several K file
clogging their inbox. :-)

We'll see if we can't get this resolved.
