How good is Fire's file transfer fn?

Anyone care to comment on Fire's current file transfer implementation?

For some reason, I have been most unsuccessful with receiving files in Fire
under AIM, MSN and Yahoo. Invariably each time I would get a pop up screen
asking me to save it to a chosen location. But after that, it just grind and
grind until a stop, and nothing comes across.

Has this been others' experience? Is there something I have missed?

This experience has been with late series 0.32 and 0.99.x versions.
