Fire's IRC support is a bit confusing at first (something we hope to 
improve in the future). You need to create a buddy for each channel 
that you'd like to use. For example, if the channel is named #fire, the 
buddy should be named fire (without the #) and the service set to IRC. 
Then, you can double click that buddy to enter the channel.
