newbie question

Here is my Frost problem: What is the most likely reason that the "list of 
all known boards" remains completely gray, even after several hours? 
Shouldn't the window at least list the boards already listed when the 
program starts, like the "boards" board, etc.? I'm getting messages in all 
the boards listed to the left just fine, and I can open and read them just 
fine. Looking forward to any useful advice.
