Sure.

I would then recommend that the file be emptied before the "restart
pluto if it dies" loop.  There is evan a convenient place: where the flag
is added to popts.  Could even diagnose a failure to write at this point.

Sure.  restartplutooncrash=[true/false] would be a better notation.
