Simply put: 
Just remember which part you downloaded and put it there into a virtual file 
your program manages (for example you could manage the parts in an xml file). 

If you want to have some security against attacks, always download overlapping 
parts, and check if the overlap is equal, if not, throw away the newer or 
both parts and redownload them (throwing away both is a bit dangerous, as 
your file could then slowly be erased by a clever attacker).
