Re: Further evolving Gnutella, who, where and how?

Hey Arne!

How've you been? I'm still around, just quietly watching the few things 
that come by nowadays. It's indeed a shame that things have fallen to 
the side for many, especially as active as the list was a couple years 
ago. But I still have an interest in Gnutella (why would I be here 
otherwise?) and I am considering picking up the pace again. A little 
"quiet" time does give you opportunities to think up new ideas.

As for ideas go in general, I'm not sure what the general consensus is, 
but I really like the way an idea was thrown onto the field, kicked 
around by others and if it survived made into a RFC. Many things came to 
live that way, and an equal many was shot down as there were some 
inherent problems with them that through this kicking around were 
discovered (before the network was hurt by it).

I'm still thinking about the network bandwidth usage, hit success rates 
and of course the all watchful eye of corporations that have been the 
downfall of a number of a few fellow GDF members. Where's the middle 
ground in that, anyway? Alas, that's not technical! ;-)
