Re: Further evolving Gnutella, who, where and how?

I've been studying physics for about 4 years, now, and I learned serious 
Python programming about 9 months ago (working on an RPG backend for a free 
pen-and-paper roleplaying system I wrote). I didn't get to trying to write a 
Python based Gnutella client (or module) though. Still I've been thinking a 
lot about Gnutella, and how it works internally. 

I moderate the Phex forums and anxiously watch the i2p integration of Phex, 
and I think I learned enought about the coding part (and informatics) to be 
able to also discuss deeper toopics in here. 

I never really got the gist of Java, though. I can dabble a bit, but not 
really program. 

And I liked the way of just posting and commenting on ideas in here, and 
working on them together. 

I'd love to get working in here again. 

Some topics which are most important to me: 

- Decentral spam recognition (sadly credence never got to the LimeWire main 
branch). Currently searches for rare files mostly turn up spam. 

- Mostly global searching again (increasing outdegree + increasing real search 
horizon). A single search checks only a small subset of the network. I did 
(evil) checks with connecting to 99 UPs, and they turn up many sources for 
rare searches which lead to no non-spam results with not-evil searches. You 
can try it with some of the rarer fansubbed animes. 

- Decentral content distribution (I wrote a Python module for creating magma 
files, which contain magnets (optionally with arbitrary metadata) and can be 
read out easily, while being human-readable:
