Well, it depends on how rudimentary you want your client to be. Writing your own jabber implementation would probably be a waste of time and even libs for ICQ or MSN like joscarlib & msnm-lib are already working - even though joscarlib doesn't support the latest protocol versions of ICQ and msnm-lib's javadoc comments are Korean. mfg gregorio Joey Libby schrieb: > well, i know how to write a rudimentary MSN client... so i think i can > hack that up no problem... jabber should be the same, icq, dunno > > On 5/13/05, *Gregorio Roper* <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>> > wrote: > > Personally, I'd go with jabber, because the protocol is open, extensible > and can easily be re-used for chats and instant messages on the > gnutella > network. > > In addition you may find that www,echomine.org <http://echomine.org> > provides an excellent API > to start with, whereas the java implementations of the ICQ & MSN > protocols are rather poor. > > mfg > gregorio > > Joey Libby schrieb: > > Are there any demographics on which IM client is most used so I can > > start working on that one first? > > > > -- > > Joey Libby > > UNB Computer Science > > Year 5 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://www.limewire.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
