Hamster now has the SSL built into the code, but to make it work you'll 
need the OpenSSL libraries from

Hamster is now checking for "dead" directories. So yes, you're right, they 
are empty directories that (for one reason or another) never got properly 
deleted. You can use Explorer to delete them.
