New User, First Thoughts, Future?

Ya know, I'm sure having a lot of problems with AYTTM since I discovered
it. I've been looking for a MSN client that has some real features, and
this sounds like the one from what I read, but I can't use it.

I can compile and run fine. First thing I noticed was that it doesn't
use GTK2. This doesn't stop it from working, but it makes the app seem
less pretty and doesn't respond the same way as the rest of the
interface. Next was that I cannot connect to MSN. It shows me a list of
users, and it tells me that "MSN connection has been reset."

I haven't had a chance to test out any of the program's features
otherwise. So I haven't tested the MSN file transfers and any
GnomeMeeting stuff.

I'm not saying I can pull this off or not, but I have some interest in
porting this application using C#/Mono and GTK2. I'm new to doing any
kind of work like this, is there any licensing issues I have to think
about before I start trying?

I'm a student at SAIT in Alberta, this would be a great way for me to
get some skills doing something I have an interest in.
