Yes, it looks like a problem with logon to freenode.net not properly
completed.

What I have been doing is first choose 'Chat -> Set status' and change
my irc account from offline to online.
There is then a delay and the menu remains frozen for a few seconds, then
disappears.
I then immediately choose 'Chat -> New group' and choose #puppylinux
Then I get an empty window, that just stays that way.

So, I tried it differently.
After starting ayttm, I chose 'Chat -> Set status' to online.
Then I waited for about one minute.
Then 'Chat -> New group' and chose #puppylinux, and it worked.

So, yes, there is some problem with going online with freenode.net
not properly completing. Probably a little 'please wait' window is
needed, and you would have to find out what to wait for in the code!

Another strange thing. I just tested channel '##linux' and was
surprised as each time there was an incoming message, I got the
"drum beat" sound repeating about 30 times. Last time that I
tested, I just got one drum beat. Um, I need to recheck that.

Note, Puppy Linux does not have ESD or Arts, but sound still works
in Ayttm.

Wow, I just tried a post to #puppylinux, and also get that rapid
repeated drum beats. So, is there anything that would cause that
difference from the last time I tested Ayttm? Last time, I definitely
got the sound just playing once for each post.

Barry Kauler
