It's not really about what the majority of users want, if it were
then there should just be one or two IRC network and certainly
Blitzed should not exist because we do things that only benefit a
handful of IRC users.

In reality we do things because we feel they would be interesting
for us to do.

As above, but also, the point of SSL is that it is very useful in a
small number of cases.

Not judging by the number of requests we get for this in #help.
Also note that many IRC networks (including Freenode, so that rules
out it only being a "toy" feature) will do this already.

The people who run this network do want a better ircd, but most talk
so far (on irc) has been about either writing one from scratch or
adding the desirable features to either ircd-ratbox or bahamut
1.8.x.
