Well, I am actually partially suprised, and a little troubled by the
possible decision to
go from something proven, to something chaotic.

I know what I say has absolutely no weight, but since there is a request
for comments
I figured that I would make one.

I can understand the love/hate relationship some people have with
unreal, but my personal
experiences with it would sway my decision so much, that its almost out
of this world.
Basically: I would write a new ircd BEFORE I ever laid hands on unreal.

I have (IMO) good reasons:
Yes, it is true that it is actively developed. however it doesnt take
much to 'glue' pieces of various ircds together
to make one. I know this from looking at past revisions that this is
indeed the case.
Ok...... I have done it too. this isnt really an issue.

I have seen, talked with, been around the unrealircd developers many
times, and the longest duration probably
a month on IRC.
The developers of unreal have absolutely no respect for either:
a. other ircds
b. other users on the ircd
c. other add-ons/modules that people have written
d. care absolutely nothing about users complaints/gripes/bug reports
e. take pride in totally tearing apart other ircds, such as blitzed
(yeah i saw them rant about it), bahamut, comstud,
ratbox and actually one that I personally maintain for freequest!
they just dont respect users choice! its tragic, it really is.

I have personally observed these incidents on IRC.
I concede, that some of the users that came into their help channel did
not follow appropriate rules and/or procedure
BUT the ones that did were treated just as bad as those that came in and
demanded either a module, config file written, or
immediate help for questions that had obvious answers.

My conclusion there... these guys dont care about anything else. perhaps
they need a rest.
Not to mention unprofessional in every way.

If you go to dalnet, and rant about other ircds being trash in there, it
very well just might earn you a ban. seriously.
Those guys are professional about it (this is not a promotion of bahamut!)

They also tear after people that make third party modules (this is
actually a BUISNESS for them, wriing modules for money)
They will totally run down a third party module, just to promote one
they write, and sell.
Sounds too much like Micro$oft to me.

Third.... In the past when I have played with it, or known others to
play with it....
It never scaled well. it would work OK for a few thousand users but
consume gobs of memory/cpu time, would core, ect.
Perhaps its been resolved, and I know memory isnt an issue but what
about all the trash traffic from the 'toys' ?

this ircd is for kids, it has the total stench of being unprofessional,
or clueless in its reputation.
I, never in my WILDEST dreams would envision Blitzed, which I hold in
VERY HIGH regard, using it. it disturbs me.
I know this is not what anyone wants to read, but I truely feel this way.

Once again, I know this has no weight.. but I really dont think its a
good idea.
If it is the will of the Blitzed EB then I will accept it just the same.
I just feel that it is important that I voice my opinion, as a user.

I appreciate your time in reading this, and I think its great that
normal users are allowed to comment.

I am available on Blitzed in #blitzed for a beatdown, if that is my
punishment :/
I never wanted to attack anyones idea personally, I hope that is not how
this is taken.
I am sorry if that is how it is recieved.
