I have tried for over a year to magic someone out of nowhere to do
this, and I have failed.

Saying it can be done won't make it happen. Do we wait another
year?

We don't currently have any contact with bahamut authors either so
I'm not sure what we would lose.

We're not trying to make an ircd or start a development project or
anything like that. We just need a modern ircd to use.

We need a new ircd. Everyone seems to be in the mindset that I have
some love of unrealircd and I'm trying to push it onto the network.
In truth I've never used it and have low regard for most of its
users from the BOPM list. I'm just trying to get something done in
the only way that I personally can do it, as opposed to no one doing
anything.

If I had the time and skill to make a suitable ircd out of ratbox or
bahamut 1.6 then I would do it, as I'm sure others here would too.
But we have waited literally years for this to happen and all the
while we have users complaining.

Are you saying we should seriously consider bahamut 1.6? We can
certainly add it to the vote as long as it's made clear that as
standard it doesn't support hostmasking, ipv6, or ssl connections
for users. Not that any of those are *required* for Blitzed but
hostmasking at least is regularly requested and it's getting harder
to justify saying no.
