Most, if not all of that stuff looks dooable, or is already done.

Yeah, we use it on a test basis, it probably only gets 10 users at the most.
it was more of a 'proof of concept' and learning experience kind of
hack. its just not suitable for
real use. I definately took a lot of heat for it :)

We dont make up hosts rather scramble the ip address if the user did not
resolve, or prefix their hostmask
if it did resolve with a hash of sorts that will remain the same across
connects, to avoid someone getting
banned from a channel and then reconnecting to simply get another one. a
lot of implementations where I have seen the
NETWORKNAME-NUMBER.rest.of.host usually assign a new number and this is
easily used for ban evasion.
(ive seen it exploited on poorly designed implementations)

I figured this was just as, or more important. I dont know that im more
motivated, just that when I say I will do something
I ususally do it if I can. (if I cant do it I wont offer :D)

All of my experience is with bahamut. I have tried others but I really
just end up back at Bahamut.
Call it a personal preference. Aside from that I sit in #bahamut all the
time, talk to the development team all the time
and we have a working relationship. The Bahamut guys ahve even helped me
with some of my stuff, so with them its really
all about doing it, making it work and pushing the envelope.. basically
innovation is the key goal I think.

I know that, and listening to the needs and desires of the FreeQuest
population is why we have what we have.
I know the crowd is different but a lot of the requests will no doubt be
very similar, if not the same.
since I already do it there its not hard to do it again :)

Well, depending on what you guys decide I will stay tuned. if you want
to go that route.
My plan would be to snatch the latest Bahamut (1.8.3) and pull it apart.
The reason I would not pick CVS is because thats an ongoing project.
(there are a bunch of known issues in cvs)

Are there any others that would step up to the plate and get the job
done... other than us?
I know Blitzed has got to have bunches of C geeks around :)
