This has never been ironed out, though we have tried a few times.

It would definitely be better to leave IPv6 out unless it works well
since the inability to consistently kline/akill across servers that
are IPv4 or IPv6 is not good.

I would set a very low priority on the made up hosts (what I call
host spoofing).  I can really only see it as useful in the sort of
way that freenode use it.

New motivated staff are needed more than any ircd upgrade or new
servers.  It's something we've suffered from in the last year or two
(and no, it's not because we've been turning away many server apps).

Which ircd are you proposing to base it on?  bahamut 1.8?  If so,
and you think you could get all of the required features working,
then it sounds like a good idea.  I would certainly be for it and
would help where I could.

David is currently the leader of the ircd team and so we need to
hear from him - if we are going to do this then really I think you
having much more experience of 1.8 should replace david in that
role when/if we cut over to the new ircd.

One thing that does concern me slightly - you know that Blitzed is
not Freequest right?  As in, it's unlikely that every single little
tweak you have put into bahamut 1.8 for FQ is going to be wanted
here and listening to the desires of admins, opers and users is
important.
