We are going to do that later for registered nicks who want it, but
since that would involve talking to services (delay between
registering to irc and being recognised by services) and not all
users have/want registered nicks it was decided that we need basic
host masking/mangling/cloaking to start with.

So later on the sequence could be

(sign onto irc)
