Depends of the #channel, but in most cases nick registration isn't required.

See if the channel is set on mode +m. If yes, just leave and join 
another channel. Or if you have extra time to waste, wait till a channop 
removes the mute mode.

If there in no mute mode in the channel, and you absolutely must be in 
that particular channel, than register your nick and try again.
