Proxy via SSL?

Is it possible to setup irssi-proxy to use SSL for its connections?  I
like the idea of irssi-proxy, and have been using it for a bit to connect
over a slow modem link.  Connecting to a server via ssl on one client is
good, but then connecting insecurely via the proxy seems a bit defeatist.
