No need to, you can use %[-st] at the beginning of the message to get
rid of line_start and timestamp.
These options are documented *cough* somewhere in the ChangeLog.

I had no luck trying %[+st] and %[+St] with the daychange format.
However as the time when the message is printed always is midnight,
you can simply fake it like that:
daychange = "00:00 {line_start} Day changed to %%d %%b %%Y";
