Change charset

Hi.

I have just installed irssi here on openSUSE 10.2.

It works ok, but I have dificulties setting the charset corerct, so that 
I have the Scandinavian characters ok.

The xterm is Ktorrent, and here I can see, that the charset is set to 
default.

But I cannot see, what default is.

If I write the Scandinavian charachters, they are shwown correct.

But the output is not ok.

How can I handle that problem ?.
