Exactly - cosmetic changes that you can apply locally via your theme.

I don't believe I mentioned anything about Irssi development other than 
specifically disagreeing with your proposal for cosmetic changes to 
whois related formats.

I'd argue the exact opposite. If I agreed with and implemented every 
little change that people have suggested, irssi would now be an 
appalling mess.
