One shouldn't have to theme Irssi to take care of typos in the first place. *Convention over configuration* (also known as *coding by convention*) is a software design paradigm <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Design_paradigm>which seeks to decrease the number of decisions that developers <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_developer> need to make, gaining simplicity, but not necessarily losing flexibility. The phrase essentially means a developer only needs to specify unconventional aspects of the application. Had Irssi only been on GitHub, I'd have submitted a clean cut pull request fixing all typos in the source, which y'all could amend with a single click. Saying that people would prefer typos, at least I think, is ludacris. Besides: https://github.com/shabble/irssi/commit/9b07444e96c9d7ed306fc3f6519474d41cf37f0b Boom! I just busted you fixing a typo! --Dwayne --0015175cd4f224b32004b6686559 Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable On Fri, Jan 13, 2012 at 11:27 AM, Jase Thew <span dir=3D"ltr"><<a href= =3D"mailto:[email protected]">[email protected]> wrote:
<b= lockquote class=3D"gmail_quote" style=3D"margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px = #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"> <div class=3D"im">On 13/01/2012 00:21, Dwayne Henderson wrote:
<blockquote class=3D"gmail_quote" style=3D"margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1p= x #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"> Look, all I'm saying is change the likes of "ircname" to &quo= t;IRC name".

Exactly - cosmetic changes that you can apply locally via your theme.</bloc= kquote><div class=3D"im">
One shouldn't have to theme Irssi to take = care of typos in the first place.

<p style=3D"margin-left:40px">Convention over configuration (also kn= own as coding by convention) is a software <a href=3D"http://en.wiki= pedia.org/wiki/Design_paradigm" title=3D"Design paradigm">design paradigm</= a> which seeks to decrease the number of decisions that <a href=3D"http://e= n.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_developer" title=3D"Software developer">devel= opers need to make, gaining simplicity, but not necessarily losing flex= ibility.
<div style=3D"margin-left:40px"> The phrase essentially means a developer only needs to specify unconvention= al aspects of the application.

Had Irssi only been on GitH= ub, I'd have submitted a clean cut pull request fixing all typos in the= source, which y'all could amend with a single click.

Saying that people would prefer typos, at least I think, is ludacris.
