Check that the make after the make clean is using the Lanai gcc to recompile the MCP (lanai-gcc has to be in the path at configure time). make clean should effectively delete the existing MCP and the following make will have to resolv the dependency by building a new one. Where did you add stuff to the globals ? It should be BEFORE the connection table at the end of the structure.
