You'd need to install the special lanai-gcc that's needed for the RISC
processor on the lanai card. I suspect that without lanai-gcc, make
would rebuild GM and then fail to rebuild the lanai, and if you didn't
pay attention to the error message, subsequently trying to use that GM
and give you the "incompatible global length" error.
