I used GM_INSTALL also, and the device files in /dev are created properly. I ran GM_INSTALL with root permissions, and the mapper too, but inspite of that I get the following error when I run the mapper. sudo ./mapper active.args 10:23:05 couldn't open temp file ".mapper.counters" 10:23:05 starting to map. My clock says Sun Jan 20 10:23:05 2002 10:23:05 map time was 97830 lanai ticks, which is 48 millisecs. 10:23:05 found 8 hosts and 1 switches (9 nodes) 10:23:05 couldn't open temp file ".a1.nowlab.ohio-state.edu.hosts" 10:23:05 couldn't open temp file ".mapper.map" 10:23:05 couldn't open temp file ".mapper.counters" 10:23:05 configuring 10:23:06 route computation took 10 milliseconds 10:23:06 configuration took 10 milliseconds 10:23:06 couldn't open temp file ".mapper.counters" 10:23:06 sleeping for 30000 milliseconds why should this happen ? sandhya On Sun, 20 Jan 2002, Patrick Geoffray wrote: > garrick wrote: > > > > I think I saw this the other day when I had forgotten to make /dev/gm0 and /dev/gmp0. > > Yes, that would be a problem to open a port :-) > I use GM_INSTALL all of the time instead of insmod/rmmod gm, > it takes care of all of the device stuff, ifdown IP, etc. > > Patrick > > ---------------------------------------------------------- > | Patrick Geoffray, Ph.D. [email protected] > | Myricom, Inc. http://www.myri.com > | Cell: 865-389-8852 685 Emory Valley Rd (B) > | Phone: 865-425-0978 Oak Ridge, TN 37830 > ---------------------------------------------------------- >
