Why?
This line is basically dead.

The upcoming 4.2.7 version (which I really must get released properly!)
is just a maintenance release, before that line is closed completely.
There has been no serious work on this code for several years.

No idea - suck it and see.
My guess would be probably not.

Note that we do *not* intend to release another version of
the 4.x code after 4.2.7, and we are not accepting patches
for the 4.2.7 release.  So if 4.2.7 doesn't work, then it's
basically not going to be fixed for the 4.x line.
