SNMP-based capacity-planning data collection packages?

Not strictly a Net-SNMP question, but I don't know who better to ask.
Tell me where to go! :-)

I want something to collect periodic samples of things like load
average and storage capacity utilization across a network of hosts for
trend analysis and capacity planning purposes. It's good to learn
that a disk volume just filled up, but it's better to notice the fill
rate and and add another one *before* it fills up. I'm finding only
packages that are more suited to announcing a crisis than to averting
one. It has to be a setup that will run itself and just call my
attention to interesting things, because I know I won't remember to
plow through a bunch of nearly-identical long reports every week
looking for trouble, and anyway repetitive boring work is the reason
we have computers.

I was going to write one, and the actual periodic sampling and
recording in a database table is pretty simple, but the configuration
language parser was growing at an alarming rate and I thought it was
time to see if someone had already done this.

Typically when a software vendor says that a product is "intuitive" he
means the exact opposite.
