OK, but then there's still my open question about the OIDs in particular
and the data being returned. Please answer it.

We don't provide recent Solaris binaries, but it's quite easy to build
net-snmp 5.4 from source (see README.solaris). Give it a try and we're
here to help if you get into problems.
