snmptrapd problems

Hello,

 

I'm having an issue getting snmptrapd to successfully open up UDP port 162.
Running Debian Sarge, and Net-SNMP version 5.4.1.

 

I'm attempting to launch the snmptrap daemon using the following command:

/usr/local/sbin/snmptrapd -On -c /etc/snmp/snmptrapd.conf -Lf
/var/log/snmptrapd.log X.X.X.X:162

The command is being run by the root user.

 

My log gets the following output:

NET-SNMP version 5.4.1

 

Ps aux | grep snmp shows that snmptrapd is actually running, but running
nmap -p 162 localhost shows port 162 as closed.

 

These are the only commands in my snmptrapd.conf file:

disableAuthorization yes

traphandle default /usr/sbin/snmptthandler

snmpTrapdAddr udp:localhost:162

 

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
