Hello Net-SNMP community,
Why is controlling of "authenticationFailure" Traps in SNMP based monitoring such a neightmare with only 2 decitions:
either switch authenticationFailure-Traps off or waste a lot of time with controlling "authenticationFailure" Traps.
1st Spam-Source: This simulation-request with only ONE wrong community packet is generating 2 Traps, instead of 1, why?
# snmpget -r 0 -c public2 -v 2c localhost sysUpTime.0

SNMPTT-representaion:
Received authenticationFailure from localhost (Enterprise : netSnmpAgentOIDs.10 , Event forwarded from : localhost ) at 11:39:11 on Mon Jun 29 2009 with 0 parameters, Severity : Major , Parameters : Format:
- 2nd, cant fix the cause of authentication traps with the information inside the trap: Is it possible to
bring the IP of the SNMP-Bad-Community-requester into the trap via configuration?
Per default there is a lot of unuseful staff inside the authentication trap, but not the importend information
to catch the cause, why?
