Why?
There is already a module to handle these MIB objects,
see 'mibgroup/mibII/system_mib'
Why not simply use this code?

It sounds as if the agent is still using the standard system
MIB implementation, and hence ignoring yours.

It's certainly possibly to set these values - this support has been
present for years.   I trust that you have read the FAQ entries
that talk about these objects?
   If not, then yes - it is your fault :-)
