Hi all, I am working on VMware ESX3.5, I confuse with specifying SNMP version. I know that we can specify SNMP version via defVersion parameter in snmp.conf, but what snmp.conf file can we use to specify defVersion because there are numerous places that configuration files can be found and read from. By default, the applications look for configuration files in the following 4 directories, in order: /snmp, /usr/share/snmp, /usr/lib/snmp, and $HOME/.snmp (following "man snmp_config")? I saw that we can use snmpget command with -V option to display package version number. See below: [root@rock /]# snmpget -V NET-SNMP version: 5.0.9 What is the initial package number of SNMPv3? How can we use the snmp package version number to specify SNMP version? What is relationship between the snmp package version number and snmp version? I must to verify that VMware ESX3.5 is being configured to use SNMP v3. Could you give me some suggestions?
