That will only work if you provide the full OID of a single instance.

You're more likely to see something if you try

     snmpgetnext  -c public -v 2c host OID
or
     snmpwalk  -c public -v 2c host OID

That will probably walk the standard MIB objects only
(depending on the version you're using).  That wouldn't
include vendor-specific information

    snmpwalk ... OID

will walk the subtree rooted at the given OID
