Hi all,

i'm in a similar situation: i've implemented a subAgentX which takes
care of monitoring some events
and then sends traps through the means of the master agent snmpd; this
way snmpd takes care of
final destination and sink type (traps vs informs) depending on its
configuration.

..all works fine BUT NOW i need to send reliable Informs for a
particular kind of event i monitor and i wonder if is possible to
configure via snmpd.conf ALSO some additional Informs-related
parameters such as retries and timeout, since, in a default config,
i've seen that in snmpd Informs datagrams transmission are attempted
five times very one second and then stop, no more attempts are made.

In my situation could be useful to tune the number of retries and also
the timeouts between each attempt (in fact cisco snmp subsystem let
the user modify this parameters and adopts by default a sort of
exponential backoff algorithm which attempts to send the informs at
2-4-8secs intervals and each attempt is made by 2 datagram in a row
separted by 100ms as i can see from wireshark logs)

...is there a way to tune these parameters (Informs retries/timeouts)
via some NetSnmp standard configuration tokens (so without modifying
snmpd source itself ) ?
