Try starting by working with just one of these systems, and get used to querying the agent from the machine itself. (Use whichever of these three you feel most comfortable with). Once you're happy with that, move on to querying the same agent from a different system. Whether the client side is Mac, Windows or Linux shouldn't make any real difference.
