Hi Wes, I have had similar problems trying to install on Solaris 10. I 
think it all depends on which distribution you are working with. On 
debian and related distros you can make it running # update-rc.d 
proccessname defaults (where proccessname can be your own script calling 
snmpd wherever it should be, and defaults set runlevels 2-5). On Solaris 
10, you have SFM utility,  a daemon that replaces scripts on /etc/init.d 
and /etc/rc.*.d and manage services its own way. On earlier Solaris 
versions you have svcadm doing the job.  Other linuxes have their own 
way to do this, though probably you already know this. Maybe if you 
provide more information our answers can be more accurate. Good luck anyway
