unable to start snmp agent

My operating system is ubuntu 11.10 and net-snmp version is 5.7.1 .
Installation folder: /home/jbpandit/snmp_projects/net-snmp
snmpd.conf file location: /usr/local/share/snmp/snmpd.conf
executable snmpd file location: /usr/local/sbin/snmpd
snmpd.conf file contain following value:
access control set up:
snmpv3 read only user : jbpandit auth
snmpv1/v2 rocommunity  public localhost
agent operating mode:
agentuser  jbpandit
agent address:
udp:161

when i start snmpd from /etc/init.d:# snmpd start it says snmpd programme is not installed.
snmpd status command display nothing


ps -ef | grep snmpd display the following message
root????? 2040? 1761? 0 03:49 pts/0??? 00:00:00 grep --color=auto snmpd

i am not able to start my agent  and snmpwalk query resulted in timeout says no response from localhost.
so what went wrong here. can any one explain? and how to run agent on boot up. do i need to install snmpd program?
